November Music had its first edition in 1993 has ever since takenplace in the beautiful Mediaeval Brabant capital of ’s-Hertogenbosch (also called Den Bosch) in the south of the Netherlands. It is the most important international gathering for contemporary music in the country.
Oene van Geel wrote his first composition for the New European Ensemble three years ago. This year, during the November Music Festival, the ensemble pays tribute to this great improvisor and composer. In the last couple of years, Oene wrote music for David Kweksilber Big Band, De Nationale Opera, Calefax, het Amstel Kwartet, Remy van Kesteren and Liza Ferschtman. The Ensemble will play a selection of his most important works written especially for the group to date including the a newly commissioned double concerto Road Movie for two cellos and ensemble.
